Benefits Gym Access Dental insurance Health insurance The R&D; Lab Technician role assists in developing formulas for recent products and interprets and processes analytical data to further optimize formulations across a variety of product categories. This role is scheduled for the afternoon shift, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Job Responsibilities Preparation, modification and development of laboratory samples under the guidance of senior chemists given customer requirements according to prescribed standards Determines chemical, physical, and organoleptic characteristics Performs tests, maintains data, prepares laboratory reports and communicates with Chemists and Managers to ensure product quality Prepares batches and/or samples given the desired product requirements Executes standard laboratory tests Sets up, adjusts, and operates a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments Packages and labels samples prior to production Documents all observations, experiments, test results and information into a lab book and maintains applicable databases with the latest information Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory Liaises with Chemists and Managers on observations and seeks/suggests improvements and or alternatives Creates truly developmental product via formulating using resources available electronically, via communication with suppliers or conversing with team members Occasionally attends supplier meetings or other industry related information events upon request to keep informed of new raw material and product trends Recommends changes to formulas to improve characteristics and cost effectiveness Manufacture of formulations to achieve desired product characteristics Abides by and maintains cGMP, GDP and GLP practices Collaborate with Quality Control team to ensure testing and approval of OTC product samples. Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably with exposure to products similar to those manufactured by Apollo Post-secondary education in Chemistry or related field Applicable job-related certification or license considered an asset Willingness to complete a full training cycle in formulations if no prior industry experience Apollo Health & Beauty Care Ltd. will ensure accommodations are available in consultation with candidates during all stages of the recruitment process.
