Custodian/Cleaner (Toronto)

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian/Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and safety across our facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a hygienic, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for staff and visitors alike. The ideal candidate will have experience in cleaning and facilities maintenance, with a strong commitment to quality and efficiency. Duties - Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting floors, surfaces, and fixtures. - Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, kitchens, and common areas according to established standards. - Handle trash removal and recycling procedures regularly. - Conduct deep cleaning as needed, including carpet cleaning, window washing, and sanitizing high-touch areas. - Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or fixtures and reporting larger repairs to management. - Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained. - Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during cleaning procedures. - Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working efficiently within scheduled hours. Skills - Proven experience in general cleaning or commercial cleaning environments. - Knowledge of facilities maintenance and basic repair techniques. - Robust attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality. - Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and pressure washers safely. - Good organizational skills to manage supplies and prioritize tasks effectively. - Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the shift. - Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues promptly.
