Requirement Summary Job Role/Title: Senior Software Developer (Financial Services APIs & Microservices Development) Anticipated Start Date: 5 weeks from job offer Job Type: Contract (initial 12 months, potential extension) Job Location: Toronto, ON / London, ON / Winnipeg, MB Work Style: Hybrid - 3 days per week in office preferred Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Mon-Fri 9:00-17:00) Rate Cap: Negotiated based on experience and engagement terms Interview: Teams interviews; 2 interviews Security Clearance: Must have or be willing to obtain active Reliability Status Security Clearance; resident of Canada for at least 5 years Position Overview We are looking for a Software Developer for the Enterprise Application Integration team within Data, Automation, AI, and Platforms. Key Responsibilities Deliver code based on specifications; develop, modify, configure, maintain, or integrate solutions to meet design and business functional requirements. Configure and integrate software components and third-party software products, tools, and solutions. Facilitate and actively participate in meetings, walkthroughs, and reviews of software development deliverables. Deliver fixes and improvements to existing software products, maintain environments and versions, adhering to standards and compile versions. Ensure technical responsibility over assigned software products and codebases. Analyze current software products, produce or contribute to design documentation and technical specifications. Apply software engineering patterns to identify and troubleshoot problems; recommend solutions or prepare escalation discussions. Conduct system support and change management activities; perform impact analysis to minimize production interruptions. Understand data designs, standards, and specifications. Deliver clean and productive code, ensuring quality and accuracy. Test and deploy software products, fix defects, and work with QA to automate and maintain test suites. Create and maintain test documentation, test strategy, and perform reviews. Gain exposure to new languages, frameworks, and tools; evaluate and adopt recent technologies that provide business value. Improve current practices and tools; adopt organizational change and best practices. Participate in audits, governance, and support activities. Focus on customer needs; take accountability for deliverables. Train and collaborate with other developers on effective coding practices and problem solving. Partner with product teams and architects to develop technical requirements and specifications. Resolve client issues promptly. Provide training to junior professionals or cross-discipline practitioners on processes, tools, and approaches. Share knowledge with team members to identify opportunities for improvement. Required Skillset APIs Development and Integration: APIs Development, API Integrations, APIGEE. Microservices Architecture: Design, develop, and event-based microservices. Core Programming & Integration Skills: Java, SQL, REST/SOAP services, Spring Boot or Apache Camel, API Gateway, Confluent Kafka or Apache ActiveMQ. Cloud, Containers & Infrastructure: Docker, Istio, Rancher, Kubernetes, AWS Cloud. Database & Data Layer Tools: Database systems, data access methods, JHipster Domain Language or Liquibase. Development Practices & Tooling: Source code management, build automation, test-driven development, production support, AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude). Experience: 10+ years of software development; developer in team environment. Ideal Candidate Attributes Rapidly learns new skills and applies creative problem-solving.
