Open Door Group (ODG), a trailblazing non-profit organization serving communities across Canada, is looking for a
Recreational Therapist
to join our team!
Salary: $39.82 per hour, HSA Grid 9, Step 2
Hours of Work: Part-time, 22.5 Hours per week, Wednesday to Friday.
Status: Casual, Temporary until March 28, 2024.
Your Role: Reporting to the Wellness and Rehabilitation Manager, the
Recreation Therapist
is responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services to clients with mental health and substance use barriers. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating group programs designed to increase, or improve, the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of program participants.
The
recreation therapists
also provide individual assessment, planning and service coordination services for program participants.

What you bring to the position:
Ability to lead, plan, organize, prioritize, implement and problem‑solve.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Knowledge of Mental Health and substance use, knowledge of other disabilities.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Qualifications:
For Recreation Therapist– Diploma: Two‑year Recreation Therapy Diploma from a recognized university or college.
For Recreation Therapist– Bachelor: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy from a recognized university or college.
Eligibility for membership in the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
One (1) year’s recent related experience working with mental health clients.
Current membership in the British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
Valid Class IV BC Driver’s License and personal use of care for work.
Must pass a criminal background check.
