Description
Clinical Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Translational Oncology
GenTraceDx is a next-generation precision oncology platform being developed to integrate multiomic sequencing with continuously updating clinical intelligence. The platform is supported by Genome Canada and Genome British Columbia and is being introduced through a national clinical pilot across Canada. We are seeking highly motivated and academically strong trainees to join our internship program across clinical genomics, bioinformatics, data science, and translational oncology. This program provides an opportunity to contribute to real-world clinical and research initiatives at the intersection of genomics and patient care.
Position Overview Interns will work alongside multidisciplinary teams contributing to the development, analysis, and clinical integration of genomic and transcriptomic data. Projects may span clinical interpretation, computational analysis, and research applications within precision oncology. This is a structured training opportunity intended for individuals pursuing careers in clinical genomics, medicine, computational biology, or related fields.
Areas of Focus Internship placements may involve one or more of the following areas:
Clinical genomics and variant interpretation
Bioinformatics and computational biology
RNA sequencing and transcriptomic analysis
Longitudinal data analysis and clinical reanalysis frameworks
Real-world evidence generation in oncology
Development of AI-driven approaches for clinical interpretation
We welcome applications from:
Graduate students in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related disciplines
Medical students, residents, or trainees with an interest in oncology or genomics
Undergraduate or co-op students in relevant fields (e.g., computer science, biotechnology, clinical research)
Applicants should demonstrate:
Strong academic performance
Interest in precision oncology and clinical genomics
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Prior experience with genomic data, programming, or clinical research is an asset but not required.
Program Structure
Duration: Flexible (typically 3–12 months, depending on program and availability)
Format: In-person or hybrid (depending on role and location)
Supervision: Mentorship by experienced scientists, clinicians, and computational researchers
Environment: Collaborative, interdisciplinary, and research-driven
How to Apply Interested applicants are invited to submit:
A cover letter outlining their background, interests, and area(s) of focus
A current CV or resume
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Additional Information Due to the volume of applications, only candidates selected for further consideration will be contacted.
