Offer Description The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver campus, is seeking a full‑time Research Associate to join the UBC System‑on‑a‑Chip Research Group.
The Research Associate will design analog and mixed‑signal circuits for electrical and silicon photonic communications systems. This position involves circuit and mathematical modelling, simulation and lab measurements, as well as integrated circuit and system design.
Responsibilities
Conduct research in microelectronics, optical and wireless communication.
Model electronic and photonic components.
Design and simulate integrated circuits.
Perform laboratory measurements.
Mentor students in modelling, simulation, tape‑outs and measurement to ensure reliable results after chip fabrication.
Prepare documentation and publications in top‑tier venues.
Assist with grant‑funding proposals and reports.
Qualifications
PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
At least three years of postdoctoral training in a relevant discipline.
Excellent publication record with multiple first‑author and co‑authored publications in relevant fields.
Job Details and Application Process Applications will be accepted until 11:59 pm on June 5, 2026. The anticipated start date is June 26, 2026. This initial appointment is for a one‑year term at 100% FTE (40 hours per week), with the possibility of extension subject to work performance and available funding. The starting salary is $105,000 per annum.
