Job Summary The SoilRes3 Lab Research Coordinator will: 1) plan and perform experiments and fieldwork related to soil‑plant feedback, 2) troubleshoot problems, 3) collect, record and interpret experimental results, and 4) coordinate lab activities, organize the workflow of different lab projects, help with data collection, follow existing protocols, assist with greenhouse and field experiments, take care of the soil archive library, and contribute to fostering a cohesive lab environment. Organizational Status Under the supervision of Dr. Cornelis, the Lab Research Coordinator will closely collaborate with graduate students of the SoilRes3 Lab by assisting them with fieldwork and lab experiments. The Lab Research Coordinator is a key lab member in facilitating communication between the researchers. Work Performed - Provides lab training and orientation to graduate students working in the SoilRes3 laboratory. Ensures the lab and lab members comply with safety rules, including facilitation of lab safety. - Ensures the follow-up and completion of required graduate student forms, including supervisory committee forms, meeting minutes, MSc/PhD defense documentation. - Maintains an up‑to‑date record of publications and presentations by lab members. - Makes recommendations to optimize the workflow of research projects running in the SoilRes3 lab. - Manages and oversees the daily operations and finances of the SoilRes3 Lab. Under the supervision of Dr. Cornelis, the Lab Research Coordinator is also involved with guiding the research performed by graduate students. - Supports the organization of lab supplies and equipment, including assisting with purchase requests. - Responsible for organizing a workshop and coordinating the work between academic and private partners of the BIOCHAR project. - Writes technical reports that must be shared with policy-makers and provides input on the researchers’ performance. - Maintains lab cohesion by organizing weekly lab meetings and coordinating monthly lab events and gatherings. - Meets with the PI on a bi‑weekly basis for consultation and discussion of research progress and issues. Minimum Qualifications - Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own. - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Preferred Qualifications - Preference for a graduate degree in a relevant soil and environmental science discipline. - Knowledge in soil science, environmental sciences, agriculture, and land management. - Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and within a team workplace. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2oxzir
