Job Overview Salt + Sol is a #15 Curated 50 Best destinations on the Halifax Waterfront. We are looking for The Engine of our kitchen—a Cook who excels on the 30-inch flat-top and high-volume fryers. This is not just a cooking job. You are responsible for the heart of the operation during our most intense summer season. Availability: Weekend and holiday availability is strictly required (May–October). Compensation & Perks $17.00 + Gratuities + Free meals Responsibilities - High-Speed Execution: Preparing dishes to exact standards under tight time constraints. You must handle 8+ tickets at once. - Maintaining constant communication with the "Salad Table" person to ensure hot and cold components finish simultaneously. - Keeping your station spotless. You must clean constantly (even during peak rushes) between tickets to ensure food safety. - Prep Management: to maintain high level stock to facilitate service. - Ensuring zero waste by following exact portioning and cooking techniques. - Manage oil temperatures and drainage techniques to ensure zero "oily" residue. Monitor the Warm Display for batch-holding during rushes. - Maintain strict FIFO (First-In, First-Out) stock rotation. - Experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred - Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal presentation - Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures - Excellent serving skills with a friendly and professional demeanor - Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail - Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members - Basic knowledge of the food industry trends and customer service best practices Mandatory Requirements - Mastery of Griddle/Fryer stations. - 1 year professional cooking experience minimum - Precision cooking (SousVide familiarity) - Food Safety knowledge. - High energy. - Coachability: You must be willing to learn the Salt+Sol way and adapt quickly to feedback. - Reliability: Our team depends on you.
