Senior Manager, Product Design (Foundations) (Vancouver)

The Foundations team sits at the core of Jobber’s product experience, responsible for shared systems, patterns, and platform foundations that help product scale. They partner closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to create and evolve shared components and interaction patterns. The role Senior Manager, Product Design – player‑coach role leading Foundations Design at Jobber. Lead a small team while contributing directly to the design system and foundational product experiences. Responsibilities - Lead design for Jobber’s Foundations team, shaping systems that support scalable, consistent product experiences. - Manage and support a small team of designers through coaching, feedback, and career development. - Contribute as a player‑coach, directly designing components, interaction patterns, and system improvements. - Partner with engineering to evolve architecture, quality, and scalability of the design system and platform foundations. - Collaborate with product designers to identify gaps, prioritize improvements, and ensure the system supports real product needs. - Champion consistency, accessibility, and usability across Jobber’s product experiences. - Drive adoption of the design system by building relationships with product teams and making it practical and valuable. - Contribute to planning and prioritization, including sprint work and roadmap direction. - Refine the long‑term vision for Foundations aligned with product strategy and growth. - Improve workflows, documentation, and tooling to enable more efficient team builds. - Advocate for design quality and raise the overall craft of Jobber’s product experience. Qualifications - 8+ years of experience designing digital products, ideally in complex SaaS environments. - 4+ years of experience managing or mentoring designers. - 4+ years of experience contributing to a design system, component library, or platform product. - Experience in a player‑coach leadership role, balancing people leadership with hands‑on design work. - Strong skills in interaction design and systems thinking; portfolio demonstrates scalable work. - Experience partnering closely with engineers on component implementation and front‑end architecture. - Deep proficiency in Figma, including shared component libraries. - Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaborative skills. - Systems mindset & strong instincts for patterns, frameworks, and scalable solutions. - High bar for design craft and commitment to improving quality across teams. - Experience improving design system adoption, governance, or contribution models. - Familiarity with front‑end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React. Direct front‑end contribution is a plus. - Motivation to build thoughtful products that help small businesses succeed. Location - Edmonton - Toronto - Vancouver - Kitchener‑Waterloo Compensation - Annual salary range (Canada): minimum $196,300 CAD, midpoint $230,900 CAD, maximum $265,600 CAD. - Additional compensation includes equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind.
