Provides a comprehensive range of psychological services for registered and admitted UBC students, including diagnostic assessment to support formulation and treatment planning for common mental health conditions, treatment interventions, and referral to the most appropriate level of care. Services are delivered within an integrative, multidisciplinary stepped care model that includes collaboration with medical providers and psychiatry. The role includes single‑session and brief individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, consultation in training, and supervision.Responsibilities

Provides individual and group therapy for a broad range of personal concerns as well as crisis intervention. Conducts diagnostic assessment within a brief, clinically appropriate scope to clarify students’ mental health needs, inform diagnosis where indicated, support treatment planning, and facilitate coordination of care.Works within an integrated, collaborative stepped care system of mental health support, including clinical consultation and coordination with medical providers to support diagnostic clarification and continuity of care, and providing referrals for students to online self‑help tools, workshops, peer support, group programs, individual counselling, medical care and crisis intervention.Participates in case management and administrative meetings and other broader Student Health and Well‑being meetings as required. Develops and delivers mental health programming that builds students’ capacity to manage mental health difficulties, including orientations, outreach, workshops, seminars, groups and other events and resources that help students normalize stress, learn how to managestress and maintain wellbeing, and how to seek support when needed.Participates in the development of policies, processes and plans that promote student wellbeing as well as policies and procedures to ensure effective service delivery. Provides clinical consultation and expertise related to diagnostic complexity, risk assessment, and treatment planning within Student Health and Well‑being and across Health and Well‑being partners.Provides consultation services to faculty and staff regarding the impact of policies, processes and programs on student well‑being and specific student concerns. Collaborates with students, faculties, departments and other student services to develop and deliver programs and services that enhance student learning and wellbeing such as Early Alert.Coordinates the design, implementation, and analysis of program evaluation and research projects specific to the area of coordination. Liaises with community stakeholders, professional organizations, post‑secondary institutions, and other partners to support effective mental health program development and delivery.Coordinates programs, initiatives, and other special events related to the work of the unit. Provides advanced clinical supervision and training for Doctoral residents in intake assessment, diagnostic formulation, individual and group therapy, and supervision of practicum students. Prepares reports, publications and other documents as required.Performs other duties consistent with the mandate of Student Health and Well‑being as requested. Minimum Qualifications

Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own. Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Ph.D. in Counselling or Clinical Psychology or a related field; eligible for certification as a Licensed Psychologist in British Columbia and a minimum of seven years of experience in clinical/counselling psychology.Committed to fostering inclusive campus communities and serving the needs of equity‑deserving populations, with demonstrated ability to understand and respond to diverse lived experiences. Demonstrated competence in diagnostic formulation and evidence‑informed treatment of common mental health disorders within a brief and integrated care context. University or college counselling experience preferred. Training and experience in the clinical supervision of graduate students preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and experience in program development, consultation and outreach. Possession of personal attributes that facilitate teamwork and development of effective working relationships with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff. Knowledge of the unique issues facing university students and university life.Expertise and experience in treatment of a wide range of post‑secondary student concerns including stress, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, career/life planning and transition issues required.
