Job Description Overview
Join AtkinsRéalis’ Ports and Marine group in British Columbia and gain hands‑on experience on real‑world waterfront infrastructure projects. This internship/co‑op opportunity is ideal for a civil engineering student eager to build a career in structural and marine engineering. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering innovative solutions for terminals, wharves, jetties, marinas and shoreline protection projects.Your Role
Assist with structural calculations for concrete, steel, and timber elements. Support the development and review of structural analysis models using approved software. Contribute to the preparation of design calculations, technical notes, reports, and specifications. Help with quantity take‑offs and basic cost inputs for marine structures.Coordinate with engineers, designers and other disciplines such as geotechnical and coastal teams. Organise project documentation and track design updates throughout the project lifecycle. Support site visits or field reviews as appropriate to understand how designs are constructed. About You
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, ideally as a 3rd or 4th year student. Ability to apply engineering fundamentals and an aptitude for structural design concepts. Proficiency in or exposure to structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD, S‑Frame or similar.Aptitude for using AutoCAD or a strong willingness to learn new design tools.
