Description
Job Summary Psychologist responsible for comprehensive psychological services for UBC students, including diagnostic assessment, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and program development within a stepped care model with medical providers. Responsibilities 1. Provides individual and group therapy for a broad range of personal concerns as well as crisis intervention. 2. Conducts diagnostic assessment within a brief, clinically appropriate scope to clarify students’ mental health needs, inform diagnosis, support treatment planning and facilitate coordination of care. 3. Works within an integrated, collaborative stepped care system of mental health support, including clinical consultation and coordination with medical providers to support diagnostic clarification and continuity of care, including providing referrals for students to resources on and off campus as indicated. 4. Participates in case management and administrative meetings and other broader Student Health and Wellbeing meetings as required. 5. Develops and delivers mental health programming that builds students’ capacity to manage mental health difficulties, including orientations, outreach, workshops, seminars, groups and other events. 6. Participates in the development of policies, processes and plans that promote student wellbeing as well as policies and procedures to ensure effective service delivery. 7. Provides clinical consultation and expertise related to diagnostic complexity, risk assessment, and treatment planning within Student Health and Wellbeing and across Health and Wellbeing partners. 8. Provides consultation services to faculty and staff regarding the impact of policies, processes and programs on student well‑being as well as specific student concerns. 9. Collaborates with students, faculties, departments and other student services to develop and deliver programs and services that enhance student learning and wellbeing such as Early Alert. 10. Coordinates the design, implementation, and analysis of program evaluation and research projects specific to area of coordination. 11. Liaises with community stakeholders, skilled organizations, post‑secondary institutions, and other partners to support effective mental health program development and delivery. 12. Coordinates programs, initiatives, and other special events related to the work of the unit. 13. Provides advanced clinical supervision and training for Doctoral residents in intake assessment, diagnostic formulation, individual and group therapy, and supervision of practicum students. 14. Prepares reports, publications and other documents as required. 15. Performs other duties consistent with the mandate of Student Health and Wellbeing as requested. Minimum Qualifications - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own. - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. - Ph.D. in Counselling or Clinical Psychology or a related field; eligible for certification as a Licensed Psychologist in British Columbia. - Minimum seven years of experience in clinical/counselling psychology. Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated competence in diagnostic formulation and evidence‑informed treatment of common mental health disorders within a brief and integrated care context. - University or college counselling experience. - Training and experience in the clinical supervision of graduate students. - Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and experience in program development, consultation and outreach. - Possession of personal attributes that facilitate teamwork and the development of effective working relationships with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff. - Knowledge of the unique issues facing university students and university life. - Expertise and experience in treatment of a wide range of post‑secondary student concerns, including stress, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, career/life planning, and transition issues. - Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual an asset. Supervision Details Supervision Received: Acts independently within established clinical and ethical guidelines; works within a collegial consultation model under the directive of Counselling Services. Supervision Given: Provides supervision to Doctoral Residents. Compensation and Posting Compensation Range: $8,305.08 – $12,952.33 CAD Monthly. Posting End Date: June 13, 2026.
