Criteria such as the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.Your Challenge:You will drive the full systems engineering product lifecycle for development of rugged deployed systems for harsh environments. This includes:Define low level system requirements such as functional module requirements, software requirements and requirements to external vendors Architecting hardware/software solutions Leading integration and test activities Ensuring compliance with rigorous environmental and safety standards Delivering innovative, reliable systems that perform under extreme conditions — all while thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment What you Bring:Proven Systems Engineering ExperienceFull-lifecycle systems engineering on rugged deployed systems for harsh environments (requirements, design, integration, verification, certification)Development of electronic assemblies optimized for rugged environments and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)Requirements management, traceability, and validation; ability to write clear,formal documentationTechnical DepthExperience with DOORS and JIRA; working knowledge of Cameo a plusLatest high-speed interconnects (Gen 3/4 PCIe, 40/100GbE, USB 3.X, DDR4/5)PCB design (stack-up, materials, IPC standards)Serial protocols: MIL-STD-1553, RS-422/485/232, 10G/100G Ethernet, PCIe, USBEnvironmental & power standards: MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, DO-160Safety-critical processes (DO-254, DO-178C, ARP4754, MIL-STD-882); prior FAA/RTCA certification experience highly valuedSystem safety analyses (SSA, FHA, FMEA) a plusHands-On & Problem-Solving SkillsOutstanding debug and troubleshooting of rugged computing systems (hardware, firmware, OS level)Proficient across Windows and Linux environmentsScripting/automation experience (Python or similar)- Cross-disciplinary awareness of electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing impactsProfessional AttributesResults-driven self-starter who manages multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentExceptional problem-solving, creativity, and engineering judgmentStrong verbal and written communication; comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiencesTeam player who leads by example, takes ownership, holds self-accountable, and drives continuous improvementPassion for customer success and team developmentEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science, Technologist Diploma or equivalent will be considered8 years systems engineering experience in rugged deployed systems for harsh environmentsWho We AreAt our world-class manufacturing and design facility in Ottawa, Ontario, we manufacture rugged products optimized for high-mix, high quality and small batch sizes typical of military requirements.
