Description
Location: 3411 Marie-Victorin Blvd., Varennes, PQ. Work performed on-site at the plant. 24/7 consult with Plant Manager and maintenance personnel for technical issues. Job Summary As an ASU Production Plant Engineer, you will assist the plant manager in the secure, reliable, and effective operation of the Air Separation production plant while maintaining safety standards, plant production, operating efficiency and regulatory compliance within the Merchant Gases Company (Air Liquide). Responsibilities Assist the plant manager in the investigation of technical and operational issues. Engineer and implement efficient solutions for correction and prevention of recurrence. Assist with equipment component repair specifications necessary to improve safety and production efficiency and reliability. Monitor efficiencies and engineer a solution for improved performance. Document and improve processes by creating, updating and reviewing PHA’s, P&ID;’s, MOC’s and SOP’s for continuous improvement of overall plant operation and efficiency. Create, review and approve job plans in the Maximo Maintenance module to improve efficiency and reliability. Assist the Plant Manager with various transactions (POR, PO’s, Daily reporting, etc.). Manage minor projects (upgrades, retrofits, plant improvements and expansions) at the facility, including project execution, design, cost estimates, economic justifications, and Capital Appropriation Request (CAR) preparation. Train operations team on MOC’s and process optimization. Promote and develop safe work behaviors through existing policies and safety behavior management techniques. Assist with safety incident investigations, including near misses, using root cause analysis to recommend corrective actions. Ensure applicable regulatory (Federal and provincial) requirements are met and required training and recordkeeping are performed. Support and participate in the Airgas HSEQ & RM programs and objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of process engineering experience. Engineer registered with O.I.Q. (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec). Knowledge of Cryogenic plant, oxygen systems, compressors, instrumentation and controls. Strong communication skills both written and oral. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in the industrial and/or specialty gas business. Advanced analytical ability and problem resolution skills. Demonstrated problem solving ability necessary to define, design, specify, control costs and implement projects generated by a technical problem or unique customer requirement.
