407 ETR is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic PR student to support the day-to-day work of our Communications and Government Relations team. The internship is a hands‑on opportunity to gain real‑world experience supporting communications that reach customers, employees, media and community stakeholders across the GTA. The intern will report to the Communications Manager and assist with the planning, development and execution of internal and external communications initiatives across a wide range of projects—from content creation to campaign coordination.Responsibilities
Manage daily and monthly media and social media monitoring, including Media Rating Points (MRP), tracking coverage, flagging relevant issues and preparing summary reports. Content creation and maintenance for the company’s intranet—writing, editing and publishing pages as required. Work with internal clients to identify corporate news and disseminate it across the organization through the design and execution of attention‑grabbing posters, signage and intranet articles.Assist with the coordination of internal events as required. Contribute to the development of external communications products such as copywriting for customer newsletter articles, bill inserts, webpages or social media content. Assist with the development of PowerPoint presentations. Conduct research to support communications and marketing initiatives, including identifying relevant influencers, trends and content.Assist with the inventory and maintenance of the department’s marketing closet and coordinate the distribution of promotional items for stakeholder groups as necessary. Complete miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned. Qualifications
The successful candidate must be detail‑oriented, possess strong writing skills and have a “can‑do” attitude. Other qualifications include: Completion of a university or college degree. Completion of or enrollment in a post‑graduate certificate program in PR, Corporate Communications or Marketing with an internship requirement for graduation.Understanding of basic principles of corporate communications and public relations. Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok. Strong editing and writing skills. Knowledge of media monitoring and MRP. Knowledge of Canadian Press style.Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint. Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Energetic, proactive and creative. Proficient working in a Mac environment. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (considered an asset).Equal Employment Opportunity
