Program Area Leader– Recreation (Canada Summer Jobs) Location: Vernon, BC

BGC Okanagan is hiring a full‑time Program Area Leader to support our Recreation Programs for Children, Youth, and Families at our Vernon club. This temporary, eight‑week position will run from June 30 to August 25, 2026.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.

Oversees day‑to‑day operation of the program ensuring necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.

Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.

Promotes public awareness and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.

Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.

Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Qualifications:

Diploma, certificate, and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education, or other social services.

Valid First Aid certificate.

20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain.

Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately.

Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check.

Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations.

Additional Requirements:

This position is open to all applicants.

This position requires union membership.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Rate of Pay: $19.82 per hour
