Status: Open Educator Location: Salmon-Arm, BC Closing Date: July 27, 2026 Competition #: CO.26.037 Employment Type: Part time, Permanent The Opportunity Location Valuable Samaritan Canada Hillside Village and Pioneer Lodge, Salmon Arm, BC Employment Type Permanent Part-Time 0.6 FTE Start date: August 1, 2026 Hours of Work 0800-1600 Wages $28.90-$40.14/hr Employee Group BC Out-of-Scope This position will support both Salmon Arm sites (Hillside Village and Pioneer Lodge) As the largest not-for-profit provider of seniors’ care in Alberta and British Columbia, The Good Samaritan Society and Good Samaritan Canada (together, Good Samaritan) have been providing exceptional care and support since 1949. We are faith-based, not-for-profit organizations committed to creating safe, comfortable communities where individuals experience caring, belonging, and purpose. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Professional Development, the Educator prepares regulated and unregulated staff for their roles as caregivers or regulated nurses in a variety of care settings. The Educator provides leadership in the clinical practice setting, while supporting staff in coaching and skills updates. The Educator assists in the development, execution, and revision of teaching materials in alignment with Provincial legislation and the Standards. The education being provided ensures each staff members can adapt to the changing environment of the healthcare industry and continue to learn as updates and legislation evolve. The Educator holds an important role in the support of staff to achieve competent, safe, and ethical care for their residents/clients. Educational and other Qualifications - Licensed Practical Nurse – current registration, and in good standing with CLPNA or BCCNP Work Experience - Three to five years working with the frail elderly - Three to five years adult education experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and - professional manner - Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships - High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including email and internet - Adept at written and oral English communication with internal and external customers - Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and work within demanding timelines - Robust leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate staff - Advanced critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve issues independently and/or make recommendations that are supported by evidence consistent with legislation/policies, and that meets the standard of care - Exhibits an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally - Maintains an individual’s dignity and self-worth during conversations - Excellent active listening skills - Demonstrates flexibility by changing routine to accommodate organizational needs - Ability to travel between programs/care homes within the region Requirements: - A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and Clearance Letter prior to the hire date. - A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
