Senior Structural Design Engineer (Vernon)

Job description: Westpro Machinery Inc. is an creative Canadian company that designs and manufactures mineral processing equipment for customers worldwide. For 40 years, Westpro has provided customized process technology solutions for the mining, wastewater and aggregate industries. Westpro also develops turnkey modular process plants with complete process design and equipment packages. Through Westpro's Contract Services Division, the company provides full equipment service including manufacturing, installation, commissioning, inspection, and spare parts. THE JOB: Westpro has an immediate opening for a SENIOR STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER at our Vernon, BC office. The ideal candidate has experience in structural and mechanical design. Responsibilities: - Lead design engineer for a variety of mineral processing equipment including structural frames & supports, silos, and tanks. - Participate in the design, detailing, 3D modelling and drafting of fabrication and assembly drawings/procedures. - Optimize structural steel and plate designs. - Generate design reports detailing required member sizes, plate details and connection details. These will include isometric drawings, utilization ratios and applicable safety factors. - Perform seismic, snow and wind load calculations according to Canadian, American and international building codes. - Prepare foundation load drawings. Includes load tables and anchor requirements. - Participate in concept studies, preparing preliminary designs and estimates. - Lifting and rigging plans. - Supporting other engineering teams in structural related activities, including sales. - Comply with internal engineering standards. - Other duties as assigned. Education and Certifications: · Professional Engineer Designation in Canada (P.Eng.) · Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Experience and Skills: - Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy structural steel design in mining, construction or related industries. - Expert in STAAD and/or SAP2000. - Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD. - Familiarity with Canadian, American and International Building Codes. - Familiarity with various design standards, such as CSA S16 and API 650. - Above average experience with Microsoft Office programs. - Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills required.
