The Opportunity McElhanney has a unique opportunity for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our team in Salmon Arm BC (who would also support our Vernon and Kelowna Branches). As an experienced engineer, you will be second in command to our senior engineer. Not only is this an amazing opportunity for you to step into a key role that will help you take your career to the next level, but you will also work with bright, junior engineers who are fully capable of supporting you from design to construction. In this role, your primary responsibilities are to lead diverse civil projects, provide detailed design support in production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, and assist in pursuit, project management, proposal and delivery of local and regional projects. Working closely with our Division Manager and operational teams, the successful candidate can rely on a very capable and established senior team delivering multidisciplinary projects. What You’ll Do - Provide detailed production of engineering assessments, designs, drawings and specifications for various municipal and private land development civil projects - Design opportunities include water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation, retaining structures, erosion protection, grading and drainage design, site servicing - Work with our regional transportation planning team to develop to establish a more local presence and gain experience and tutelage from our senior transportation planning team - Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed - Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved - Oversee and/or complete field inspections and construction inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed What You’ll Bring - EIT or P.Eng. with 2 - 8 years of experience in a similar role - Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university - Proficiency in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3D - Experience in a consulting engineering environment an asset, but not required - High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills - Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $73,000 – 95,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
