Intermediate Civil Engineer (Salmon Arm)

The Opportunity McElhanney has a unique opportunity for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our team in Salmon Arm, BC, with additional support for our Vernon and Kelowna branches. In this role, you will work second in command to the senior engineer, leading diverse civil projects and providing detailed design support in the production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications. You will also assist in the pursuit, project management, proposal, and delivery of local and regional projects, working closely with our Division Manager and operational teams. What You’ll Do - Provide detailed production of engineering assessments, designs, drawings, and specifications for municipal and private land development civil projects. - Design opportunities include water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation, retaining structures, erosion protection, grading and drainage design, and site servicing. - Work with the regional transportation planning team to develop local presence and gain experience under senior transportation planners. - Develop engineering designs, plans, and project informational requirements from preliminary concepts and sketches using Civil 3D and other technical software as needed. - Coordinate and assist in preparing documents required for approvals, development and construction cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved. - Oversee and/or complete field inspections and construction inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work. What You’ll Bring - EIT or P.Eng. with 2–8 years of experience in a similar role. - Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. - Proficiency in specialized design software such as Civil 3D. - Experience in a consulting engineering environment is an asset but not required. - High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment. What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $73,000–$95,000 per annum. Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
