Vernon Catering & Hospitality Group (Wings and 1516 Pub & Grill) is looking for EXPERIENCED SOUS CHEFS & LINE COOKS. Our group has two big, busy, and beautiful restaurant locations committed to excellent hospitality. We are situated in the city’s busiest neighborhoods, workplace hubs, and tourist destinations. The Sous Chef leads kitchen operations, focusing on high-quality food, team development, and financial performance. They are responsible for driving guest satisfaction, maintaining top-tier food safety/operational standards, and mentoring staff in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. Key Responsibilities Leadership: Mentoring and developing kitchen partners, fostering a culture of excellence and high performance. Operational Excellence: Ensuring consistent food quality, safety, and strict adherence to recipes and standards. Financial Management: Driving sales, controlling food costs, and managing kitchen profitability. Menu & Quality Control: Collaborating with regional leaders to deliver menu items and maintaining inventory. Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant culinary management role. Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and business acumen. Certifications: Valid food safety certification (e.g., Food Protected) and First Aid certification. Attributes: Entrepreneurial spirit, passionate, and dedicated to elevating the team and brand. Hours of Work Head chefs and Sous Chefs typically work long, full-time hours, often averaging 50–60+ hours per week, with 10–14 hour shifts common. The schedule heavily features evenings, weekends, split shifts, and holidays, particularly in busy restaurants or seasonal resorts. While 50 hours is standard, high-volume or current restaurants may demand 60–80+ hours. Previous experience required.
