Physicians – Pain & Symptom Management/Palliative Care BC Cancer – Victoria 0.6 FTE Overview In this part‑time position, you will participate in the clinical, educational and research activities of the Pain and Symptom Management/Palliative Care (PSMPC) team. Your duties include addressing the palliative care needs of ambulant cancer patients, coordinating care with oncological management, ensuring continuity of support, communicating with community physicians and home‑care/palliative care services, providing consultation and education to other BC Cancer care teams and community‑based providers, and engaging in research and education interests in palliative and supportive care. Responsibilities - Facilitate a coordinated approach to palliative care for ambulant cancer patients. - Ensure continuity of care through effective communication and transfer to community‑level physicians and home‑care services. - Provide consultation and education to BC Cancer staff and community providers. - Support and engage in research and educational activities related to palliative and supportive care. - Promote awareness and education on palliative care and symptom management within the oncology patient community. Qualifications All candidates must be fully licensed physicians and meet the requirements of the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as of the Medical Advisory Committee of the BC Cancer Agency and the local hospital. - CCFP candidates must hold a Certificate of Added Competency in Palliative Care (CAC). - Royal College candidates must have Palliative Medicine Subspecialty Accreditation or equivalent training and experience. - The position may also be combined with part‑time palliative care work with Island Health, pending FTE availability.
