Lead Horticulturalist (Victoria)

Lead Horticulturalist (Victoria)
Description
Living Harmony Landscapes is a small business looking to add a second Lead to our team! We want a Lead who is ready to grow! This is a full-time field position for 2026, but it’s designed for a skilled who wants a long-term path into design and technical administration by 2027. We run a technical, ecologically minded business here in Victoria. This means we use thoughtful, science-based alternative gardening practices that don't always fit a manicured aesthetic. The Work Schedule We believe that high-level work requires real rest. Our mandatory production week is 8-hour days Monday–Thursday. Fridays are optional all year; they are available for those who want the hours. - Summer Balance: During the peak summer heat, we encourage the 4-day work week to keep the team healthy and our standards sharp. - Winter Break: We observe a mandatory two-week company shutdown over the holidays in December to allow the entire team a predictable, guaranteed break to recharge. We don't do long-term layoffs for our Leads, because we have a mandatory 12-month commitment for maintenance clients. Your Roadmap In 2026, your focus is on learning our operations and becoming familiar with our clients. By 2027, as you master our systems, you’ll begin a structured transition into a hybrid role. This includes taking on Land FX design (after in-house training), client consultations, estimating, and the technical administration that keeps the business growing. Who We Are Looking For Someone who is formally trained, experienced in leadership, and capable of teaching others. You should be someone who values systems and sees themselves as a future pillar of this company. - Education: A Red Seal, Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Horticulture is a plus. - Experience: Minimum of two seasons of full-time landscaping and one year in a supervisory role. - Technical Depth: Solid foundation in plant ID, soil science, and plant health. - Logistics: Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (and a willingness to learn to drive with a trailer). What We Offer - Wage: $31–$35/hr, plus bonus and overtime opportunities. - Stability: Permanent year-round work with the exception of the 2-week winter break. - Health: Extended health care (Health Spending Account) after 3 months. - Growth: Tuition reimbursement, paid workshops, and apprenticeship sponsorship. How to Apply If you’re ready to expand your skill set, please send your resume and a cover letter explaining why you’re the right person to join our team!
