Position Software Engineer Co‑op/Intern (Fall 2026) Job Summary The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) seeks a Software Engineer Co‑op/Intern to support the Enterprise Solutions team with development and support of enterprise applications. Responsibilities Provide analytical and programming support for new applications and enhance existing custom, hosted, and packaged solutions. Perform day‑to‑day resolution of problems on complex systems across multiple platforms. Research complex issues and collaborate with business representatives to define design specifications and technical solutions. Present system solutions to clients both verbally and in documentation to secure consensus for enhancements and fixes. Translate user requirements into technical specifications and identify system inefficiencies for improvement. Engage with vendors to address operational needs. Participate in change‑control processes for software releases and application upgrades. Assist in progressing system changes through application environments, ensuring testing and approvals. Document changes to procedures, applications, and data stores using standard tools and templates. Conduct business‑analysis sessions with clients, creating workflow diagrams, data analysis, and joint application reviews. Develop support documentation, such as operational support models and technical user guides. Maintain documentation in Jira and Confluence. Participate in Kanban/Scrum to coordinate user stories and tasks. Provide or arrange training on new procedures and application functionality. Support team members in daily operational tasks and special projects. Qualifications University‑level coursework in computer science or related field. Analytical, problem‑solving and design experience, with proficiency in programming tools. Technical writing skills. Familiarity with source control (e.g., Git). Experience creating workflow diagrams and flowcharts. Comfortable using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience supporting third‑party products and hosted solutions (asset). Familiarity with Agile methodologies and processes (asset). Knowledge of finance and capital markets (desirable). Strong teamwork, communication, and customer‑service skills. Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality. Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to ethical standards. Advantages & Details Competitive pay: $2,330.00 gross bi‑weekly (graduate) or $2,155.00 gross bi‑weekly (undergraduate/diploma/certificate). Vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary. Fixed‑rate travel allowance for Victoria or Vancouver offices. Option to work one day per week from home, subject to position. Professional development and training from experienced IT staff.
