Part-Time Housekeeper / Home Support (Senior Care Environment) Location: Midland, ON (Birchwood Drive) Schedule: Weekly (preferred Wednesdays, approximately 2–3 hours per visit) Home: Approximately 900 sq. ft. bungalow (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom; laundry in basement) Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and emotionally steady individual to support the upkeep of a private residence for a senior woman living independently. This role goes beyond traditional housekeeping. It requires someone who can work respectfully within a sensitive home environment, where maintaining routine, minimizing disruption, and respecting personal space are especially important. Key Responsibilities Housekeeping & Sanitation - Vacuum and maintain kitchen and main living areas - Mop kitchen floor (small area) - Wash dishes by hand and store appropriately - Perform full bathroom cleaning during each visit - Wipe down high-touch surfaces (counters, tables, etc.) - Remove garbage and maintain general cleanliness Laundry & Linens - Change and wash bed linens (primary bedroom) - Wash, dry, and manage clothing from laundry hamper Light Pet Care - Clean cat litter and maintain surrounding area - Ensure fresh water is available for the cat General Household Support - Maintain a safe, hygienic living environment - Identify and report any safety, hygiene, or maintenance concerns Work Workplace - Private residence with moderate clutter conditions - Client may be particular, resistant to change, or easily agitated - Work must be completed independently, efficiently, and respectfully - Initial family support and orientation will be provided Essential Behaviour Requirements The client presents with age-related sensitivities, including: - Limited hearing and reduced social communication - Strong preference for items remaining exactly where they are - Discomfort with environmental changes The successful candidate must: - Avoid moving items unless absolutely necessary - Return moved items to their original position - Work calmly, quietly, and without confrontation - Remain composed if the client becomes upset or frustrated - Maintain a consistent and predictable routine during each visit Ideal Candidate Profile - Experience in housekeeping, home support, senior care, or caregiving - Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient - Comfortable working in non-standard or sensitive home environments - Strong respect for personal space, routine, and independence - Able to work independently with minimal supervision Position Summary This position is best suited for someone who understands that this role is closer to home support than traditional house cleaning. The objective is not only cleanliness, but also helping maintain a stable, safe, and respectful living environment.
