Tax Controller (Waterloo)

Our client in the construction and development industry, based in the Waterloo region, is seeking a Senior Controller to join their growing team! The role will focus heavily on financial reporting, team leadership, and project financial oversight, while working closely with senior leadership and project managers to analyze performance and support strategic growth initiatives. What our client has to offer: Competitive compensation Annual profit‑sharing bonus Great benefits and vacation package RRSP matching Opportunity to work with a well‑established and growing development and construction company Collaborative and social company culture Strong growth trajectory and long‑term career potential Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team of 3–4 members, including co‑op students Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting Prepare and review monthly financial statements and variance analysis Collaborate with project managers and cross‑functional teams to support project financials and reporting Oversee and review project financial performance to ensure accuracy and insights Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Ensure strong internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvements Work closely with senior leadership to present financial insights and support decision‑making Assist with year‑end processes and liaise with external accountants Support ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects as required Requirements: CPA designation is REQUIRED 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong controllership experience Construction or project‑based industry experience is REQUIRED Proven experience working closely with project managers and operational teams Solid communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial results Must be willing to work on‑site five days a week Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2o2dy0
