Kitchener. The Accountabilities: The goal of this position is to provide an excellent
service experience to our patients by supporting MRI Technologists in clinical operations and service delivery, and to play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and safe MRI experience for every patient. The key accountabilities of the role include: - Coordinate patient care during MRI scans including checking in, prepping, escorting to changing and exam rooms, answering questions and monitoring the waiting room. - Complete MRI safety screening and review patient history with patients prior to the exam, ensuring all questions are answered and relevant reports and prior images are in the chart and on PACS. - Obtain missing reports, implant cards, eGFR results and prior images from Connecting Ontario, doctor’s offices, patients, Pocket Health or internal tasks; upload CD/DVDs as required. - Instruct patients on gowning and removal of contraindicated items and explain the MRI procedure including IV and possible Gadolinium reactions, breath-holds and hearing protection. - Start and remove IV access on patients (IV certified/trained) and assist the MRI Technologist with patient positioning before the hand-off. - Assist with special patient needs (wheelchair, walker, CDs, image/report requests) and provide guidance to family members and caregivers. - Prepare supplies and exam areas for daily IV and Gad studies; check, restock and organize MRI drawers, injection basket and supply cabinet. - Perform daily cleaning of the MRI area (excluding Zone 4), maintain the cleaning log and manage lab laundry as needed. - Push prior MRI images from PACS to the scanner for research and CD/DVD requests; perform CD/DVD burning and verification. - Support MRI Technologists with Radcons, rescheduling, rendering, recalls, schedule optimization and same-day cancellations or fill-ins to maximize daily capacity. - Assist in medical emergencies under the direction of MRI Technologists and the supervising physician and collaborate on incident report documentation. - Complete monthly WTIS reporting and inventory and crash cart counts; perform chart checks per the chart check checklist. - Update Cerebrum and perform medical administration tasks (linking, uploading, scanning, faxing and referrals) in support of patient care. - Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy, build rapport with patients, and collaborate with internal teams to meet team performance metrics. Required Skills and Experience: - Lab Technician registration with MLPAO or OSMT/CSMLS - Phlebotomy experience is preferred - IV training/certification is an asset. - MRI Assistant certificate is an asset. - BLS - Cardiology or diagnostic imaging experience is an asset. - Proven ability to work proficiently in a busy, quick-paced clinic environment. - Self-directed, detail oriented with an ability to multitask, establish priorities and achieve objectives with minimal supervision. - Robust knowledge of medical terminology - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Good telephone etiquette - Good conflict resolution, analytical and problem-solving skills - Proficiency in technology including MS Office and EMR systems. - Excellent time management and organizational skills - Able to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy. - Team player with good interpersonal skills and flexibility Our team is passionate about healthcare and includes clinical, clinical support and business roles with an entrepreneurial approach. The MRI team takes pride in our patient-focused environment and works very closely with other clinical and service teams at KMH. This is a full-time position scheduled for 5 days per week Monday–Friday. 1–2 Saturdays per month are required on rotation with the team. The shift will be 8 hours per day scheduled between: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Days and hours may vary based on operational and staffing needs. This role reports to the Technical Manager, MRI.
