Railcar Mechanic We’re looking for a motivated and safety-focused Railcar Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping freight equipment operating safely and efficiently. If you enjoy hands-on mechanical work, problem-solving, and working in a dynamic rail environment, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career. What You’ll Do - Inspect, maintain, and repair freight cars in accordance with industry and regulatory standards - Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, underframes, braking systems, draft systems, and safety appliances - Diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs using a variety of tools and techniques - Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to plan and complete work - Complete required documentation including inspection records, repair reports, and regulatory forms - Carry out welding and cutting tasks using SMAW, GMAW, oxy-fuel, and plasma-arc equipment - Safely operate hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools - Work on railcars in shop and field environments, including on, under, and around equipment What You Bring - High school diploma or equivalent - Minimum 1 year of experience working with heavy equipment or in a mechanical role - Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability - Ability to read and understand technical documents, manuals, and safety regulations - Valid driver’s license (commercial license considered an asset) - Strong communication skills and a commitment to secure work practices Working Environment - Rail operations run 24/7, and this role requires flexibility for shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays - Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions - Physically active role requiring the ability to work in various positions and environments Safety & Pre-Employment Requirements This is a safety-sensitive position.
