Production Supervisor (Welland)

Position: Production Supervisor Company: Winoa Canada, Inc. (Abrasives) Location: Welland, Ontario Positions Available: 1 Schedule: 12 hours shift schedule (rotate weekly Day/ Night) Job Overview Winoa Inc is the World Leader for the Manufacturing of Steel Abrasives. Welland, Ontario is our home base for Canada and is the site of our growing manufacturing facility. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations within our facility. The ideal candidate will ensure production processes run smoothly, safely, and efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards. This leadership role requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities - To lead employees under the guidance of the established safety standards in order to achieve set operating standards while minimizing the risk of accidents. - Directly supervise hourly employees in the melting, processing, packaging, shipping, quality, and maintenance departments, maintain attendance, vacation, overtime and position records. - Provide managerial support services to the Production, Maintenance, Quality, Purchasing, Logistics and Plant Manager, as well as provide assistance to the accounting, sales, and human resource departments. - Maintain an efficient and orderly flow of production through the various departments to achieve the maximum output in packaging and assure that customer requirements are met on time. - Maintain a continuous awareness of and involvement in, manufacturing cost and quality controls, while continually striving to improve productivity and customer satisfaction. - Promote good employee relations and a positive work environment to heighten morale fostering reductions in turnover, absenteeism, and tardiness. - Determine the capabilities of hourly employees and identify those requiring training, retraining, or cross-training to reach proficiency. - Plan training programs and work assignments for recent employees, monitor their progression to ensure they are given a fair opportunity to develop their skills and demonstrate their capability. - Maintaining Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members. Perform daily 5S audits. Qualifications - Relevant Post-Secondary Education. - Previous experience in manufacturing management or supervision. - Experience working in a unionized environment. - Experience working in a 24/7 rotating shift facility. - LEAN fundamentals - 5S, Standard Work, TPM, , GEMBA, Structured Problem Solving, OEE. Kaizen, Material Flow, Kanban. - Communication Skills.
