ICI Construction Project Manager – Position Summary The Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple ICI construction projects of varying size, scope, and complexity, from interior fit outs to large new builds, across the Niagara and surrounding regions. Projects include a combination of internally performed work and subcontracted scopes across commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. This role carries full ownership of project delivery, financial performance, client relations, and overall project outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Project Manager operates with autonomy, managing all project resources while collaborating closely with the VP of Construction on field performance. The position is full-time and primarily office based, with travel to project sites as required. Working hours may vary depending on project requirements and client needs. Qualifications - Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in ICI construction project management, including responsibility for leading projects from start to finish. - Proven experience coordinating and managing projects ranging from $500k to $2M. - Experience preparing and managing Change Orders, including estimating and costing of material, labour, and subcontractor pricing. - Experience in collaborating with architects, engineers and consultants to achieve customer goals while protecting the interest of the GC - Post-secondary education in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field is an asset; equivalent industry experience will be considered. - Valid G driver’s licence and a clean driving record. - Strong knowledge of ICI construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and contract administration, including familiarity with CCDC and other common ICI contract formats. - Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, manage competing priorities, and maintain strong client relationships. Key Responsibilities Systems & Tools - Use project management software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Monday.com, Sage, Ontraccr) and standard digital tools to plan, execute, and track project performance. - Maintain accurate schedules, financial tracking, documentation, and communication records. - Leverage digital platforms to support planning, reporting, and collaboration across teams. Safety Leadership - Champion a strong safety culture across all project sites. - Ensure site hazard analyses are completed prior to project start‑up and that any unique safety requirements are communicated in advance. - Conduct formal site inspections; document observations and ensure corrective actions are addressed promptly. - Participate in required safety training and ensure Supervisors and subcontractors meet company safety expectations. Project Planning & Execution - Develop project schedules, milestones, and work plans using appropriate tools. - Coordinate with the General Foreman to ensure labour, equipment, and materials align with project needs. - Review project scope, drawings, and contract requirements; proactively identify risks, constraints, and required changes. - Identify and communicate project risks early and recommend mitigation strategies. - Manage scope changes, assess impacts, and ensure timely communication with internal teams and clients. - Ensure field teams receive clear direction and have required information to execute work safely and efficiently. - Oversee quality control, ensuring all work meets specification, contractual, and company standards. - Lead project closeout activities, including deficiencies, turnover documentation, and final client communication. - Participate in quoting small projects as required. Procurement & Subcontractor Management - Source, evaluate, and select subcontractors and suppliers based on quality, performance, safety, and price. - Issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements in alignment with company standards. - Maintain ongoing communication with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure expectations are met. - Escalate performance or safety concerns to the VP of Construction in a timely manner. Financial Management - Meet or exceed financial and schedule targets for each project. - Work with the administrative team to ensure timely invoicing, approvals, and reporting. - Support contract administration, including review and coordination of change directives, change orders, and progress claims. Leadership & Workforce Development - Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to General Foremen, Lead Hands, and junior project staff. - Communicate performance expectations clearly and hold General Foremen accountable for meeting project standards. - Support field teams with timely information, strategic direction, and issue resolution. - Collaborate with the VP of Construction to ensure field productivity, safety, and quality expectations are met. - Contribute to developing future leaders by modelling professionalism, technical expertise, and high standards. Client Relations & Business Development - Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients; maintain proactive, solutions‑focused communication throughout each project. - Deliver a high level of project quality and responsiveness to strengthen client relationships and drive repeat business. - Identify opportunities to support clients through the company’s full range of services. - Support client retention and contribute to business development opportunities. Internal Collaboration & Communication - Maintain clear communication with the VP of Construction regarding project progress, risks, resourcing, and client issues. - Provide accurate project information to internal departments to support billing, reporting, and operational coordination. - Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance environment.
