Quality Control Manager (Port Colborne)

Reporting to the Head QA Manager, you will build up and operate a quality control laboratory for our newly introduced texturant facility. You are responsible for exceptional performance to ensure the site obtains recertification in all food safety and quality standards. You are responsible for the safety & operations of the Analytical and Microbiology department. You will ensure the company does not ship any substandard product to the customer. Delivering a quality product to the customer every time while sustaining a safe workplace will contribute to the success of the company. Responsibilities - Manage Quality Control Programs for the Xanthan Gum facility - Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety regulations, policies and procedures - Conduct internal audits of the facility to ensure all departments are following the standards established for food safety, ISO, Kosher, and housekeeping - Manage Quality Lab Technicians in both the Analytical and Microbiology Labs - Analytical and Microbiological control of Xanthan Gum product quality, including sample requests and batch retains - Implementation of in-process controls of Xanthan Gum intermediate products from production - Analytical and Microbial incoming goods inspection - Implementation of environmental monitoring (SWAB samples, air sampler monitoring, etc.) - Material master data maintenance in SAP - Release of the batches produced according to test plans - Coordination of customer-related application projects, special requests and stability tests - Manage testing and calibration of lab equipment and methods with regard to functionality and compliance - Validate and qualify new analytical methods and equipment - Training laboratory technician in accordance with the relevant job profile - Regular training of QC employees in occupational safety, current methods, OOS procedures, guidelines in accordance with ISO 9001, IPEC GMP and FSSC 22000 guidelines - Revision and improvement of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Implement Operational Excellence initiatives to improve safety, quality, and sustainability in the QC laboratory - Contribute to the site quality assurance program with Head QA Manager - Extension of microbiological tests to other areas - Deputy of site QA Manager during absence Qualifications - Masters of Science or Bachelors of Science in a relevant Life Science (Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or similar) - Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP - Laboratory experience as a Quality Control Laboratory Manager in a Microbiologic Laboratory with knowledge in test method validation and qualification - Extended travel for job training at our European Plants - Detail-oriented, resourceful and focused with a solution-based approach - Team-oriented with a team-building spirit Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pn0cr
