About the Position: We are hiring for a Cook role two different locations to cover two different contract positions that are available to for a maternity leave and a sick leave. Candidates may be considered for either location based on operational needs and availability. EduKids Whitby 1121 Dundas St. E Whitby, ON L1N 2K4 EduKids Oshawa 15 Harmony Rd. N Oshawa, ON L1G 6K8 We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at EduKids. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals for children in our care, while adhering to health and safety regulations and dietary requirements. You will work closely with the child care team to ensure the children in our care receive healthy and delicious meals every day. Responsibilities: - Plan and prepare daily menus that meet the dietary requirements of children in our care, including those with food allergies or sensitivities. - Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for children in our care, while ensuring food safety standards are maintained. - Monitor food inventory and place orders for supplies as needed. - Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas. - Collaborate with child care team to ensure meals are served on time and in a timely manner. - Provide suggestions for meal improvements and dietary changes to ensure the children are getting a variety of nutritious meals. Requirements: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in cooking and meal preparation, preferably in a child care setting. - Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong communication and organizational skills. - Ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapid-paced environment. - Flexibility to work early morning and occasional evening shifts. - Current Food Handling Certificate.
