Job Description
Plan, direct and control the activities of the operation to accomplish the budgeted financial objectives Ensure the profitability and viability of the company; if not, take appropriate actions Monitor and control all programs and activities related to the safety and well‑being of the entire workforceEnsure the company is in compliance with government and regulatory requirements Ensure the requirements of the Quality and Environmental Systems are fully adhered to Support the Controller to maintain ERP (Sage + Mysis) data integrity Foster and promote growth by supporting Engineering and Product DevelopmentSupport the Controller to prepare annual budgets Ensure that new business is started up effectively and on time Provide guidance and direction to all functional areas Manage the necessary resources to achieve annual budgets Manage headcount in line with revenue and flex cost to revenue as appropriateDevelop individual goals for the operations team Execute to meet and exceed company KPIs Monitor customer satisfaction levels to achieve 100% on‑time deliveries Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) philosophy throughout the organization Participate in the Health&Safety Committee and provide management support for specific initiatives Manage and direct all aspects of the Operations Department (Rubber and Injection Molding) Maintain a safe working environment Provide direction on day‑to‑day matters to employees as required Review various reports to monitor performance in the areas of quality, maintenance, manufacturing and shipping and take appropriate action where neededEnsure Manufacturing Work Orders are completed with accurate information and on a timely basis Execute the production schedule to meet customer delivery dates Participate in Continuous Process Improvement projects as a team leader and member of a cross‑functional team Conduct regular employee meetings to communicate important issues affecting the businessRecommend salary and wage increases Chair and participate in various meetings designed to deal with day‑to‑day issues such as daily production, scheduling, APQP, and sales meetings Complete time studies on a regular basis driven by daily production schedule variances greater than +/-5%; any changes to BOMs will require approval by the CEO and CFOOther duties as assigned Qualifications
University Degree or College Diploma in a technical field; may consider equivalent experience Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in a union environment Good background in Continuous Improvement projects, scheduling, and process support Background in injection molding preferred Management of a site with 50+ employees and three‑shift / continuous operations environmentStrong background in business and operations Leader with people‑management skills, positive demeanor, and ability to motivate others to achieve specific organizational goals Experience in operational metrics and holding people accountable to them Strategic thinker who can advance business operationsKnowledge of Health&Safety legislation Background in manufacturing with a clear understanding of production planning and scheduling techniques Hands‑on, multitasker who is well‑organized, has a strong work ethic, and high energy level Computer knowledge (ERP, Microsoft Office) Continuous improvement experienceGeneral knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Act, Employment Equity Act, and Ontario Employment Standards Act Why Is This a Great Opportunity
