Casual Chef – Durham Christian Homes Are you a passionate chef looking for a flexible prospect to showcase your culinary talents? Durham Christian Homes is seeking a Casual Chef to join our team, providing coverage for vacation and other absences. In this role, you will prepare and serve a nutritious lunch to our residents in a warm and welcoming environment. The duties will include but may not be limited to the following: Duties and Responsibilities · Ensure kitchen facility is operated efficiently and in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and standards and organizational expectations. · Prepare nutritious and various meals a weekly basis through the Meal Program. · Provide catering for Special Events as requested and approved by Chief Executive Officer and/or Community Life Coordinator. · Supervise part-time or volunteer staff as needed. · Liaise with Public Health Inspectors and/or contractors as required. · Ensure the provision of quality nutritional care through menu planning and the maintenance of high standards of food preparation and service. · Ensure optimal safety standards are maintained by all kitchen staff. · Ensure maintenance of an appropriate menu recording system. · Coordinate the purchasing of food and other dietary supplies. · Maintain professional and respectful communication with residents, staff and contractors. · Accountable for compliance with approved food services budget. · Perform other related duties as required and directed by Chief Executive Officer.
