Job Overview Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for the Forensic Program. The RPN will provide specialized, recovery‑focused care to patients with complex mental illnesses in secure and community forensic settings. Key Responsibilities Deliver assessment, care, medication administration, interventions, and documentation of treatment plans for forensic patients. Provide recovery‑focused instruction to patients and families and act as a Recovery Champion. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. Maintain reflective practice standards in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and the Canadian Standards for Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nursing. Model and uphold recovery philosophy across all aspects of care. Required Qualifications Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in valuable standing. Current CPR – Health Care Provider certification. Demonstrated knowledge of CNO Standards of Practice, Mental Health Act, and PHIPA. Experience in psychiatric‑mental health nursing, preferably forensic, including the full scope of RPN practice. Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and to communicate orally and in writing. Computer proficiency; Meditech experience preferred. Solid organizational, problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills. Physical ability to meet job demands and work shifts; reliable attendance record. Ability to work with clients of diverse ethno‑racial and cultural backgrounds; proficiency in a second language is an asset. Research experience is an asset. Encouraged to obtain RPN Mental Health certification within five years of hire. Other Information This position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit.
