The Client
Our client, a leading construction firm based in the northern Greater Toronto Area (York Region), is seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator to support preconstruction and early-stage execution of large, complex ICI and infrastructure projects in a fully in-office role.
This is a high-impact role working alongside senior project leaders, estimators, operations executives, and legal counsel on projects often ranging from $30M to $100M+ in value — including public infrastructure, transit, utilities, and major civil works.
The Opportunity
The Contracts Administrator will play a critical role during bid, negotiation, and early execution phases, ensuring contractual clarity, risk identification, compliance, and proper documentation before and immediately after contract award.
This is ideal for someone who understands the realities of ICI and infrastructure construction — including public owners, Metrolinx-style projects, and complex subcontract structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preconstruction teams in reviewing RFPs, tender documents, and contract terms
- Identify contractual risk, unusual clauses, and commercial exposures
- Coordinate with in-house legal and senior leadership during negotiations
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing subcontract agreements
- Ensure proper notices, bonding, insurance, and compliance requirements are addressed
- Set up contract administration frameworks for project teams post-award
- Support change order documentation processes in early project stages
- Maintain organized and defensible contract records
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in contract administration within civil or infrastructure construction
- Strong familiarity with CCDC contracts and public procurement environments
- Experience working with large public agencies (Metrolinx or similar clients would be an asset)
- Clear understanding of construction risk allocation and notice provisions
- Ability to work collaboratively with project managers and executive leadership
- Detail-oriented, commercially aware, and proactive
If you're currently in a Contracts Administrator, Project Controls, or Commercial Administrator role within civil construction and looking for broader exposure and influence, let's have a confidential conversation.
