Reporting to the Supervisor of Government and Council Relations, the Communications Coordinator (Housing Initiatives) is primarily responsible for the day‑to‑day coordination of the Town’s communications activities related to housing initiatives. This includes creating engaging strategies to encourage new housing unit development, executing housing‑related advocacy and stakeholder engagement, and coordinating housing‑related reporting to upper levels of government. The position makes recommendations to elevate and enhance the Town’s presence and reputation related to housing, and provides communications support to the Mayor, Council, and other Departments as directed.Job Duties

Develop and coordinate communications campaigns for corporate, department, and council initiatives related to housing (messaging, digital assets, etc.) Develop and implement communications and engagement plans for corporate and Council initiatives, with a focus on housing Coordinate, track, and respond to housing‑related inquiriesWrite professional materials and other communication products Assist supervisor with government relations and advocacy work, with a focus on housing Support the planning and execution of corporate events Provide support to the Mayor and Council as directed Qualifications&Skills

Diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related discipline (communications or social media certification) 1–3 years of experience, preferably in a government or agency environment, or the equivalent combination of education and experience Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media Management softwareExperience with developing and executing communications and/or advocacy campaigns and plans Event planning and support experience Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to work on multiple competing priorities and deliver results Ability to work independently or in a team environment Well‑developed organization and time‑management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills Creative and innovative thinker, keen ability to identify emerging trends and apply them in a municipal context Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends at various Town locations Nice to Have

Familiarity and experience with planning and development, government relations or housing‑related policies and practices of other levels of government Compensation&Benefits

Compensation: The posting reflects older rates; the updated 2026 rates now range from $80,870 to $101,087. Contract Duration: This temporary full‑time position is for approximately 17 months in duration, ending December 17, 2027.
