Details Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering, this is a full‑time, permanent position with a strong technical focus. The role is positioned as a hands‑on mining engineering specialist responsible for delivering practical, implementable open pit mine planning and design work across the full project lifecycle, from Pre‑Feasibility through Feasibility and beyond. Key areas of contribution include open pit mine design, equipment studies, operational optimization, and support to capital and operating cost estimation. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants to ensure engineering designs are realistic, efficient, and aligned with future operational requirements. Location: The role is based out of Snowline’s Whitehorse or Vancouver office, with frequent travel and time at Snowline’s camp required. Remote candidates can be considered. Qualifications - 5 – 10 years’ experience working in the mining sector and leading the development and completion of EA processes. - Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants in complex regulatory and stakeholder environments. - Experience with Project execution and construction at remote mine sites. - Professional designation of PEng. or RPBio is considered an asset. - Demonstrated knowledge of technical processes and environmental engineering design associated with mines and associated infrastructure. - Effective communication and presentation skills, particularly in presenting technical information in plain language. - Knowledge of federal, territorial, and local environmental regulations, procedures, and guidelines. - Ability to gain cooperation and support through discussion, negotiations, and influence. - A valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel throughout the region, including overnight as required by the work. Scope of Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Working with all aspects of Project design to ensure the Environmental Assessment (EA) includes supporting information (i.e. engineering memos, trade-offs, baseline, etc.) required by regulatory agencies. - Participation in YESAB and Federal agency engagements, including the development of schedules, proactive identification of permitting and regulatory risks, and solutions to maintain a de-risked permitting process. - Ensuring closure and reclamation planning as part of the EA and permitting process, and ensuring closure concepts, progressive reclamation, and post-closure objectives are appropriately reflected in project design and regulatory commitments. - Preparing permitting engagement materials for government, First Nations and local communities in collaboration with the Sustainability team. Associated travel to communities and government headquarters is required. - Integration of permitting and environmental requirements into project planning, cost estimates, and construction readiness planning. - Assisting with budgeting, cost management and site reporting activities for the environment and permitting department. - Supporting environmental field crews and consultants to ensure completion of field programs that will support the EA and other permits. - Supporting implementation of project agreements as they pertain to the environment, permitting, and social obligations. - Oversight of development of the Project’s future environmental management system, as developed in the EA for the Valley Gold Project.
