Combined Lab/X-Ray Technologist (CLXT) - Laboratory Services - Whitehorse General Hospital Requisition #COMBI002784 (PSAC Bargaining Unit). Regular Full time - (1.0 FTE) This position is at the L08 level with an hourly pay range of $41.30 to $52.25. Reporting to the Manager of Laboratory Services, this role performs laboratory and radiology duties for the detection, prevention, and management of physiological and pathological conditions. Responsibilities include chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, transfusion medicine (if education allows), electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, general and emergency radiography procedures, and other duties as required. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: - Knowledge of standard medical laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment - Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology - Knowledge of radiology techniques and associated equipment and instruments - Ability to organize and coordinate the workload - Ability to perform related procedures and operate related equipment - Ability to work independently and adapt procedures to individual situations - Ability to keep abreast of technological developments in the field to ensure high standards of patient care - Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with patients, departmental, medical and nursing staff, and outside agencies - Physical ability to perform the duties of the position - Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing - Good computer skills - Good analytical skills - Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently Required qualifications: - Completion of the Combined Laboratory/X-Ray Technologist program - Registration with the respective professional association - Completed CPR, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Violence Intervention Program - Valid driver’s license where required by the job - Completion of the Transfusion Medicine module for CLXT is considered an asset Incentives: - Pension Plan - Annual Yukon Bonus - On-site Gym - Generous Vacation Time - Free Parking Yukon Hospital Corporation is committed to employment equity.
