Description
Job Summary We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator II (HEO II) to join the Transportation team in Stewart Crossing, Yukon. The role involves operating graders, tractor‑trailers, and various heavy equipment to support the construction and maintenance of highways, recreational roads, airstrips, and other facilities across Yukon. The objective is to keep these vital routes in top condition for safe public travel.

Responsibilities Operate graders, tractor‑trailers, and other heavy equipment for construction and maintenance tasks. Perform minor equipment maintenance and servicing, including greasing, brake adjustments, oil and filter changes, and air filter replacement. Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and adhere to safety procedures.

Essential Qualifications

Experience operating a grader

Experience operating various heavy equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, or other equipment

Experience performing minor maintenance or servicing of equipment, including greasing, adjusting brakes, changing oil, filters, or air filters

Experience completing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections or other safety procedures

Conditions of Employment

Yukon Class 3 driver’s licence with air endorsement

Yukon Class 1 driver’s licence with air endorsement (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)

Pass TMB Competency assessment on heavy equipment (grader, loader, dump truck or tractor‑trailer)

Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (to be obtained within 6 months of hire)

Job Requirements

Travel throughout the territory

Work in adverse weather conditions

Use personal protective equipment

Maintain a personal tool kit

Wear steel‑toed work boots

This is a designated permanent full‑time position within the Yukon public service.
