This is a permanent full-time position
Job Summary: Reporting to the Early Learning and Childcare Centre Manager, the incumbent is responsible for developing initiatives and opportunities for the protection, enhancement and preservation of the Tlingit Language. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of the recommendations of the Tlingit Language Implementation Plan that is authorized by TTC that is specific to young children and families. The coordinator works with the Department to provide a safe and nurturing environment that fosters the child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and cultural development. All Language and Culture program staff, including the coordinator are expected to participate in all language and cultural training and event activities.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
Education and experience in learning, speaking, and teaching the Tlingit language
Great communication and demonstration skills
Knowledge of program and presenter evaluation techniques
Research, report, and proposal writing
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
Translating skills
Management Skills:
Ability to work independently
Time management and organizational skills
Flexible schedule, may have to work evening and weekends
Conditions of Employment:
Criminal Records Check
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is a mandatory requirement;
First Aid Certification
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
