Mechanical Engineer
to join our team in our
Whitehorse
office. Our infrastructure practice is growing and we’re looking for a skilled, motivated and mechanical‑design focused individual to join our team. We serve a wide range of client sectors across Western Canada with projects ranging from small‑scale studies to large and complex multi‑disciplinary design and construction assignments.

What You’ll Do The successful candidate will lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems, water, storm, and sanitary pump stations as well as valve chambers and pressure‑control facilities. Our team also undertakes energy efficiency studies and condition assessments of existing infrastructure, and the design of upgrades to these facilities. While this role is intended to be primarily technical, there is an opportunity to support the team’s business development, project and construction management activities.
Coordinating the work of multidisciplinary teams through the design development phase
Managing our cross‑discipline quality‑management process
Taking ownership of overall project quality
Leading the design of mechanical systems, including hydraulic analysis of piping and pumping systems, selection of equipment (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, screens, etc.), and design calculations
Leading the preparation of schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs with senior support and working with our CAD technicians
Helping to prepare and author studies and design reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents
Undertaking Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction
Does this sound like you?
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or integrated engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution
Registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineer’s Yukon, or eligible for registration
5+ years of progressive experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Valid driver’s licence
Committed team player and highly self‑motivated
Demonstrated ability to work independently and undertake self‑directed learning
Enthusiasm for building internal relationships throughout Associated Engineering’s network of engineering professionals
Passion for HVAC, hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and understanding the importance of sustainability in design and energy efficiency resulting from system optimisation
Ability to look beyond your mechanical engineering specialty to find synergies with other disciplines to understand cross‑disciplinary needs for a successful project completion
Proficient with MS Office, and with PDF editing software
Familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D design tools such as SketchUp, Revit and Plant 3D
Familiarity with hydraulic design tools would also be an asset
