As an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer specializing in dams, you’ll join a collaborative, forward‑thinking team tackling complex dam, reservoir, and hydropower projects in a supportive and inclusive environment. Support the design, analysis, and construction of dams, reservoirs, dykes, spillways, and hydropower projects across Canada. Conduct Dam Safety Reviews and inspections in accordance with Canadian Dam Association Guidelines, with opportunities for short‑duration travel within Canada. Manage and coordinate geotechnical‑focused and multidisciplinary project teams, commensurate with your experience and capabilities. Mentor and be mentored by colleagues across a breadth of experience fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Drive innovation by leading or contributing to digitization initiatives, advanced numerical modeling, market research, and the development of emerging technologies, with a focus on climate change adaptation, risk and liability reduction, and aging dams. Proven ability to manage projects independently. Passion for making a positive impact through engineering. Effective communication skills, including report writing and client engagement. Commitment to technical excellence and mentorship. Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s or PhD an asset). Experience in dam engineering, dam safety, geotechnical design, and/or dam construction. General knowledge of geotechnical software solutions (GeoStudio™, LeapFrog, Rocscience). Demonstrated ability to work and manage projects independently and on a team. Active participation in professional associations and technical communities is an asset. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
