Description
RESPONSIBILITIES Create and revise 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models using: - AutoCAD - Autodesk Inventor - Autodesk Revit Develop: - Part models - Assembly models - Facility layouts - Equipment arrangements - Construction and fabrication drawing packages Produce detailed drawings including: - Dimensions - Sections - Elevations - Bills of materials - Basic annotations and specifications Support engineers and project managers with: - Design revisions - Drawing updates - Documentation control - Project coordination activities Assist with industrial facility and equipment layout development to support: - Process flow - Space optimization - Safety and maintainability considerations Coordinate CAD models and drawings with multidisciplinary engineering teams including: - Mechanical - Electrical - Industrial - Structural disciplines Review drawings for: - Accuracy - Completeness - Drafting standard compliance - Constructability - Maintain organized drawing files, revision histories, and project documentation - Participate in design review meetings and incorporate markups and comments into revised drawings Assist with field verification activities including: - Site measurements - Existing condition documentation - Point verification against drawings and models Support the creation and maintenance of BIM and coordinated 3D models for project execution Communicate project progress, technical issues, and drafting requirements with team members and supervisors Continuously develop technical knowledge related to: - CAD systems - Engineering standards - Manufacturing environments - Building and industrial design practices Support continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD workflows, drawing quality, and documentation efficiency. Assist with integrating vendor drawings, equipment data, and engineering information into project models. Prepare CAD deliverables in accordance with company and client standards. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Required CAD Software Competency - AutoCAD - Autodesk Inventor - Autodesk Revit CAD Capabilities Ability to create - 2D engineering drawings, including x-references - 3D part and assembly models - Manufacturing and fabrication drawings - Layout drawings and equipment arrangements - Basic BIM models and coordinated building layouts Understanding of: - Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;) - Drafting standards and drawing conventions - Layer management and drawing organization - Parametric modeling principles - Revision control and drawing management Engineering & Technical Knowledge - Basic understanding of: - Mechanical systems - Industrial facility layouts - Structural and architectural coordination - Manufacturing processes and fabrication methods - Materials and standard components - Engineering documentation practices Ability to: - Interpret engineering sketches and specifications - Read P&IDs;, floor plans, and equipment layouts - Coordinate drawings with multidisciplinary teams Desired Experience - 0–3 years of CAD drafting or engineering support experience - Co-op, internship, or academic project experience considered an asset - Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or construction environments preferred Additional Technical Skills Familiarity with - Microsoft Office Suite - PDF markup/review tools - File management systems - Basic BIM coordination workflows Considered an Asset Experience with - Laser scanning / point cloud integration - SolidWorks - Vault or other document management systems - ACC (Autocad Construction Cloud) Soft Skills - Strong attention to detail - Valuable organizational and time-management skills - Ability to work independently and within a team environment - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Problem-solving mindset with willingness to learn - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Typical Responsibilities - Develop and revise 2D and 3D CAD models - Prepare engineering drawing packages - Support facility layout and equipment design activities - Assist with design reviews and clash coordination - Maintain drawing revisions and documentation records - Support engineers and project managers with drafting tasks - Participate in field verification and measurement activities when required Preferred Attributes - Self-motivated and eager to develop technical skills - Strong visual-spatial reasoning - Interest in industrial engineering, manufacturing, or facility design - Willingness to learn new software and technologies - Commitment to producing accurate and professional engineering documentation Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour Benefits - Dental care - Employee assistance program - Extended health care - On-site parking - Paid time off - RRSP match - Tuition reimbursement - Vision care Education: - Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Experience: - 3D CAD Design : 1 year (required) Licence/Certification: - Driver's License (required) - Canadian Passport (required) Willingness to travel: - 75% (required) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pd0r2
