Veterinary Extern - General Practice (Windsor)

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give veterinary students the unique chance to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Brack Animal Hospital in Windsor, Ontario is an AAHA‑Accredited full‑service companion animal hospital dedicated to providing high‑quality veterinary care throughout the life of pets. Responsibilities Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. They will also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Duration & Eligibility Externship experiences normally range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Students in their 4th year or clinical year are encouraged to participate. Compensation Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
