Who We Are OCL Group Inc., is proudly 100% Canadian owned and operated. We are a privately held, employee-owned, fully integrated general contractor with design-build solutions across Western Canada. We have been serving the energy and municipal infrastructure markets since 2009.
The formation of OCL was a direct result of a few long-tenured industry professionals with entrepreneurial spirits, wanting to get back to their roots and build an organization where people matter. The Role We are currently looking for a Quality Control Inspector: CWB Level 1 to join our team at a dredge assembly project 75km north of Fort McMurray, AB.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision and has a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement. The QC Level 1 Inspector will play an important role in supporting daily operations and ensuring all components meet OCL’s and our clients’ quality standards.
Shift: 10 days on and 4 days off, 10 hours per day.
Accommodations: Camp provided.
Travel: This is a fly in and fly out position from hub airports in Calgary and Edmonton. Camp provided.
Compensation/Benefits
Competitive hourly rate, negotiable, based on experience
Weekly Pay
Eligible for annual bonus based on company performance
100% employer-paid drugs, travel, life&dependent life insurance, and AD&D
Long-term disability
$7000 flex credit account per year (can roll into a health care spending account and/or RRSP)
Paid vacation
Cell phone allowance or company-provided cell phone
Company provided IT assets
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Perform visual testing (VT) on welds and flag any defects
Monitoring welding activities
Material receiving inspection
Maintaining welder qualification records
Maintain weld&bolt up mapping
Redline mark-ups, and document control
Develop and maintain quality logs, and turnover documentation
Assisting with NDT coordination
Assist and support quality control lead on all quality and turn over activities
Skills/Experience/Qualifications
CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector Certification
1–3 years of experience in industrial construction quality control role
Industrial trade credential is an asset
Knowledge of ASME, CSA, and API codes related to welding and pressure piping
Familiarity with ITP (Inspection Test Plan) checkpoints and quality documentation requirements
Ability to interpret mechanical, piping and structural drawings
Ability to conduct field inspections
Proficiency using Bluebeam, Google Suite and MS Office applications
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in record-keeping
Capable of conducting visual inspections (VT) and identifying weld discontinuities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment with multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean work environment
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
