Kichton Construction LP. (KCLP) is a Fort McMurray-based heavy civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies, operating since 2019 to serve the energy and mining industries across North America. The company has grown from 30 employees and 30 heavy equipment pieces to more than 400 staff and 300 pieces of equipment, partnering with the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation through the NOHA/Kichton joint venture. The Role We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance arm of our business, which includes our vehicle fleet, heavy equipment, and rentals. This full‑time position reports to the Fort McMurray Area Manager. Responsibilities / Duties Oversee the Company’s Maintenance Division. Provide leadership, training, mentorship, and, as necessary, corrective action to Direct Reports including Field Maintenance Shop Supervisors, Maintenance Coordinators, shop and yard staff, HETs, ASTs, preventative maintenance, fuel and lube personnel, and steamers. Manage day‑to‑day operations of the maintenance division, ensuring all heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and rentals are maintained to the highest standards. Create and report daily on downed equipment to determine overall utilization percentages. Track and report costs associated with manpower, subcontractors, parts, rentals, downtime, rebuilds, and service. Ensure safety inspections and work observations meet or exceed company and industry standards. Effectively execute work orders. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and safety protocols for all facilities. Plan and execute all planned and unplanned maintenance. Supervise and support facility staff, providing training and guidance as needed. Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal guidelines. Attend safety meetings. Monitor and control rental equipment utilization and idle time. Configure B2W software – add assets, develop workflows, create efficiencies; use data to drive decision‑making and increase shop efficiency, reducing costs. Coordinate billable work orders. Perform additional duties as required. Education / Qualifications / Training Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar position. Minimum 7 years of construction experience, preferably in oilsands/mining. Knowledge of the Fort Hills mining operation is an asset. Journeyperson HET certification strongly preferred. Experience with B2W software strongly preferred. CSO, hydrogen sulphide awareness, silica awareness, OH&S; legislation awareness, Wildlife and TDG knowledge required (training provided). Valid Class 5 driver's license and valuable driver’s abstract. Ability to work on site up to 50% of the time. Ability to pass a drug and alcohol pre‑employment test. Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization skills. Able to delegate work efficiently. Trains, mentors, and coaches direct and, when necessary, indirect reports. Excellent communicator. Manages conflict and works through employee issues professionally and productively. Resilient under pressure and within tight deadlines. Strong problem‑solving skills. Intermediate computer skills (Outlook, calendar, Excel, Planner). Positive attitude. Fosters effective relationships with clients, vendors, employees, and leadership.
