Structural Engineer Contract – Fly‑in/fly‑out Fort Chipewyan

Travel Flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton Overview We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support a large brownfield industrial facility. This role is site‑based on a Monday–Thursday fly‑in fly‑out rotation , with flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton. The successful candidate will provide structural engineering oversight, develop inspection programs, and support Operations and Maintenance teams in a live plant workplace. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain a structural inspection program for an operating facility. Assess the condition of structural assets including pipe racks, conveyors, towers, platforms, hoppers, and lifting structures . Provide day‑to‑day structural engineering support to Operations and Maintenance. Review plant changes, maintenance activities, and small projects that may impact structural components. Identify structural risks and recommend mitigation strategies aligned with secure, reliable plant operation. Participate in field walkdowns, inspections, and troubleshooting activities. Prepare clear engineering documentation, reports, and recommendations. Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams to resolve structural issues efficiently. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering . Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered or eligible for registration in Alberta. 5+ years of structural engineering experience in an operating industrial, oil sands, or heavy‑industry environment. Strong understanding of structural inspection methods, degradation mechanisms, and brownfield engineering practices. Experience working directly with Operations and Maintenance teams in a live plant setting. Robust communication, field presence, and ability to work independently on a remote site. Work Conditions Fly‑in fly‑out rotation (Mon–Thurs) with flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton. Camp accommodation provided. 10‑hour workdays.
