DIRECT SUPPORT WORKER Part‑time Aldaview Services, Tri‑County Mennonite Homes New Hamburg, ON
About Aldaview Services Aldaview Services supports adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, empowering its clients to be self‑sufficient and nurturing self‑determination. Aldaview Services promotes a positive workplace culture where employees can participate in professional development and enhance their skills.
Aldaview Services is organized to provide facilitation and support for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Our services and activities are geared to promote community involvement and participation at the level desired by the individual. We seek to promote daily involvement within the community, including opportunities for physical and emotional wellness, social and spiritual growth, and leisure and recreational activities.
About the role The Direct Support Worker reports to the Program Manager and offers support to individuals to promote their independence and is person‑centered.
WAGE $22.78 to $26.42 hourly
QUALIFICATIONS
Post‑secondary degree/diploma in the social services field, such as a DSW/PSW, or enrollment in a related college or university program is preferred, OR related experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
CPR, Emergency First Aid, NVCI.
Aldaview employees will be responsible for driving residents' appointments, activities, etc.; therefore a G license is required.
Experience supporting individuals with Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health&Addictions would be an asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to advocate for others.
Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to improvements.
Ability to contribute to a safe environment for co‑workers and clients.
Can communicate respectfully, openly, and honestly.
Demonstrated experience working with adults with an intellectual/developmental disability is preferable.
