Job Description
We are currently hiring Journeyperson Plumber/Gas Fitter and apprentices to work in Yellowknife, NT on various shifts. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic, get along well with others in a team environment, and be comfortable working independently and leading projects. The goal is to find someone with the skills and knowledge to lead the entire mechanical department.Hours are based on a minimum 40 hours per week with opportunities for overtime. Relocation assistance is available for candidates interested in relocating. Company health and dental benefits with Manulife may be available after a 3‑month probationary period. Responsibilities
Complete plumbing for residential and industrial, including plumbing an entire house, installing pellet systems, installing, repairing and maintaining boilers, and installing, repairing and maintaining domestic, commercial, industrial plumbing fixtures and systems. Use standard plumber’s tools such as snakes, wrenches, pipe threaders, hand and bench tools, power saws, and pressure gauges.Interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems and provide recommendations for areas of improvement. Familiar with various mechanical systems, including pellet, oil, and gas. Manage time efficiently on various projects.Communicate effectively, troubleshoot problems with plumbing systems and equipment. Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines; join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing and welding equipment. Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.Assemble and install valves and fittings, install sinks, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim. Perform preventative maintenance: maintain and service existing boilers, furnaces, HWTs, etc. Troubleshoot and identify problems regarding failures in systems and take necessary action for repair and replacement.Train apprentices and manage the mechanical division from planning, scheduling, and completing projects on time and on budget. Demonstrate accountability and maintain excellent work and safety performance. Certifications&Experience Required
Journeyman/Journeywoman plumber. Gas fitter. Driver’s license (Class 5). Minimum of 10 years experience in the mechanical industry. Experience training and leading apprentices and other plumbers. Benefits
